Back in CT... tentative bird list from 3 weeks of pure America....

I tallied dozens of lifers, and I didn't even make it down the south of California.... I made it there, but the Sierra Nevada mountains, and a stupid Jack-rabbit now has my baby (Colorado) as a pile of scrap metal, never to bee seen again.

I made this list on the plane ride home, I just need to positively ID a few.... this is about it though. 3-5 more at best.

  1. Brian! I hope you are ok beyond the tally of injuries listed above! Sounds like you had quite an ordeal. Definitely not the way you want to end a trip, especially early. Having totalled a car on vacation before myself I know how extra difficult everything can be. Heal quickly! -Lynn

  2. Thanks, Lynn. My injuries are healing well. But to be honest, I'll take them again for what I was able to experience, driving 3 weeks across America. 300+ species, 78 lifers, wild buffalo, wild horses, pronghorns everywhere, jack rabbits (not my best friend right now), ground squirrels, prarie dogs, coyotes, foxes..... still an amazing experience.

And my insurance covered a new pick-up for me. So... I'll take a few broken ribs and wrist/hand and 5 skull staples!

I appreciate your concern, thank you.
